11 Things must give up to achieve success in life

by  Darpan Sachdeva

”Somebody once told me the definition of hell:

“On your last day on earth, the person you became will meet the person you could have become.” — Anonymous

Sometimes, to become successful and get closer to the person we can become, we don’t need to add more things — we need to give up on some of them.

Getting successful  and rich in life is not easy.It takes lots of handwork and persistence. It takes discipline, focus, and a set of core values that guide you around the emotions and stress of daily combat.

You can easily get sidetracked with all the strategies and resources available to you with the modern technology .These tools and strategies are constantly changing on daily basis..You find yourself chasing tactics one after another, hoping that you will eventually get rich with one of them.

You try one ,it does not work for you and then change to another strategy which again does not work for you and henceforth. As you repeat that cycle, the idea of becoming a millionaire becomes blurry. What used to be very clear now seems frantically out of reach.

One things thats for sure that all rich and successful people know  are not only the things and habits that are to be done but also teh things that are to be given up and not be done what so ever. Here are eleven things you have to give up to achieve success.

1.Give up on need to be perfect:

Perfectionism is based on the false belief that if we do things perfectly. We can avoid failure. You just need to be honest about those mistakes and learn from the results that you achieve. It does you no good to pretend like you’re more successful that you really are. It stops you from doing the things that would help you achieve your goals.

Its about taking those baby steps on everyday basis that take you towards the bigger goal in your life. Its always about to try and do your best  and move ahead on regular basis.

Always favor progress over perfection.

2.Give up on being a know-it-all:

Don’t be that person that cuts everyone off mid-sentence. Listen to people. Don’t interrupt your employees or your customers. Don’t roll your eyes and stomp your feet while you wait for the person who is talking to stop. That’s selfish and shortsighted. And besides coming off as completely arrogant, you are missing out on important lessons by acting that way.

Yes, for surely ,a lot of things we hear are irrelevant ,unhelpful and the stuff that is criticism and insane. But if you can listen long enough ,you might get that little important information that happens to be the next essence that takes you ahead on your road to success

Listen for those moments. Ignore everything else.

3.Give up on Saying YES to things that do not support your Goals:

Successful people know it fully well that to get some thing in life more than average is possible only by sacrificing more than average. To be able to say NO to things that give results of instant gratification for the goals that would give long term fruition.

4.Give up Whinning:

“It’s not about the cards you’re dealt, but how you play the hand.”
― Randy Pausch, The Last Lecture

Successful people know that they are responsible for their life, no matter their starting point, weaknesses, and past failures.

Stop being the person who has to help “keep everyone else’s feet on the ground.” That’s just an excuse for you to whine and mope and be unnecessarily negative. No one likes a whiner. That’s just the truth.

5.Give up expecting life to be always fair

Stop pretending like you’re the only one who has bad, unexpected circumstances happen to them. Everyone lives in the same sometimes-erratic universe. You didn’t get it any worse than anyone else. Enough already with the theatrics. Rich people don’t get that way by sulking.

Always remember no matter how strong you are, life will beat you to your knees and make you fall.Success is not about falling and getting the hits ,its about getting back after the falling and hits.

6.Give up on  the fixed mindset:

“The future belongs to those who learn more skills and combine them in creative ways.” ― Robert Greene, Mastery

Successful people fully understand the value of the “Learn all” person over the “know all” person. They invest an immense amount of time on a daily basis to develop a growth mindset, acquire new knowledge, learn new skills and change their perception so that it can benefit their lives.

Remember, who you are today, it’s not who you have to be tomorrow.

7.Give upon not  taking responsibility:

In any area of your life, what you do has consequences. Sometimes those are good. Other times you are left with regrets. Actions have results. That’s a universal truth. It never changes. You will always get the results deserved by the activity that you’re doing.

You need to believe that what you do can make a difference. Hard work matters. A kind word matters. Honesty matters. Candor, personal responsibility, and fairness — they all matter. Because the lifestyle you lead is what ultimately determines how rich and successful you become. Make sure you’re doing the right things.

8.Give up your fear of seeking help:

You can’t succeed alone. If you want to succeed, you must ask for help. Let me be clear, asking for help does not mean asking others to do your push-ups for you.

Be confident about your need for asking for help.

Reach out to entrepreneurs, practitioners, and people with skills you need to succeed.

9.Give up on your need to make every one happy:

Trying to make everyone happy is a sign of weakness. You could have the best product in the world and some customers will still be upset. You could have the greatest customer service and some clients will be unhappy still. And, that’s OK.

10.Give up on your fear of the unknown:

Successful people are always ready to face the new upcoming and surprises while they try hard towards their success. They  are never afraid of the unknown.

11.  Give up your Vulnerabilities:

We are all vulnerable. Even if you deny it, you are vulnerable. The difference between someone who succeeds and someone who fails is the way they handle their vulnerabilities.

“When you know better, You do better” – The life impacting lesson Oprah learnt from Maya Angelou

by  Darpan Sachdeva

oprah

“When I think about my twenties and what a foolish girl I was and how I would give over my power to men who really didn’t mean me well… But now I hold no grudges against them either because I realize I’m the one who gave over the power because I didn’t know any better. And now that I know better I know I don’t have to do that again. It’s one of the most powerful lessons any of us can ever know.” ~ Oprah

All of us criticize our selves from time to time so often on the things or mistakes we have committed in our past.We try to be harsh on ourselves for not meeting that standard line of conduct or correct approach we have set up for ourselves. We blame and criticize ourselves for things we might have done in the past, failing to realize that the past is in the past. We can’t change what happened in the past but we can surely learn from it.

We certainly can do better today as compared to the past since we know better than we did in the past. This is exactly the same lesson what Oprah got from Maya Angelou as her mentor and she has explained it in the video  below so beautifully. This is so powerful. Please enjoy!!!

Whenever you feel the need to be harsh and critical on yourself, just say to yourself: “I did what I knew.. when I knew better, I did better” ~ Maya Angelou

We are all held in the same captivity, and those who have bound others are themselves in bonds – unless you think perhaps that the left-hand chain is lighter. One man is bound by high office, another by wealth; good birth weighs down some, and a humble origin others; some bow under the rule of other men and some under their own; some are restricted to one place by exile, others by priesthoods: all life is a servitude.

So you have to get used to your circumstances, complain about them as little as possible, and grasp whatever advantage they have to offer: no condition is so bitter that a stable mind cannot find some consolation in it.”
~ Seneca, On the Shortness of Life

Rules to Success by Ratan Tata | Indian Business Leader | Entrepreneur

by Darpan Sachdeva

With my extreme love and appreciation for the Tata  family and the group as a whole , i am confident that  Mr Ratan Tata is always going to be the key hold name and inspiration for all the entrepreneurs globally now and for the times to come.

Mr Ratan Tata is an Indian Business Leader, investor, philanthropist and Chairman of TATA Group. The Video down below  is a tribute to the great man.We know him by his vision, ideas, Entrepreneurship skills, Quotes, Business strategies, Philosophy, ethics. His Motivational Speech inspires us every time. He has been  honored with Padam Bhushan and Padam Vibhushan ,Indian national  awards for his service.

Down below are few takeaways for any entrepreneur  from an interview with him at the launch of seed program— Kstart, on Feb 5th, 2016.

If you were a 26-year old entrepreneur of today

Ideas come when you see a problem. Find problems to solve and then put time, energy and efforts to create ventures out of these thoughts or ideas.

In the very limited time that I have been associated with startups, I have heard ideas which I thought would never work. However, those ideas have gone ahead and done fairly well. I realized I am on the learning curve of understanding what young intelligent people around me can do.

Principles on which companies should be formed.

It is exciting if your idea can change the way people live, think or sustain themselves. For me, partly due to my involvement in philanthropy, I am particularly excited when an idea can, in addition, make a positive difference.

What qualities should one look for in an investor?

One looks for investors who have a similar sort of excitement and passion for what one is trying to do. Collaborate with an investor who is not only willing to risk his money but also participates in the journey of the entrepreneur, and use his contacts, mentorship etc. to make the entrepreneur’s vision work in the real world.

Growth v/s profitability, how does one find the equilibrium?

There is no single formula or proven science behind this. In the last few years, I have seen companies grow at rates that I never thought would be possible. The next question then is, can these growth rates be sustained. I think it should be about how you want your vision to be implemented and then closely monitor the progress at each stage.

Importance of creating a personal brand for a startup CEO

I think it is a personal choice to build your brand inseparable from a company, some people do it while others don’t.

Many founders believe that communicating too much gives away their competitive advantage. However, an active system of communication with all stakeholders is a great plus. Successful CEOs do it religiously. It is important to know that “how the world sees you is a result of how well you communicate”.

Celebrating success and defining moments

There have been several successful moments in my journey. But the one moment under the sun that clearly stands out for me was the launch of the Tata Nano. The idea came when I saw a family going on a scooter on a rainy day. They met with an accident and were lying on the road. That got me thinking about how to make a two wheeler safe — which in turn led to the concept of making an affordable four wheeler. Tata Nano is a result of that thought.

We put together a team to design and manufacture the car at a price point that was extremely affordable. We launched it at the auto expo in Delhi. It was a spectacular event.

One thing you wish you had known at 26

As a young employee at Jamshedpur, I went to my bosses with a lot of ideas, but often I wouldn’t be heard and would be told to continue doing what I was doing. In such situations, I yearned for an environment where one would be heard when one had an idea. Maybe, I did not know how to frame my question or idea. I think how you communicate is something you wish you could have done better when you were young.

His inspirations

  • JRD Tata: who left his mark on the industry in India; was a tremendous mentor to me
  • Henry Schacht: Former chairman and CEO of Cummins Diesel inspired me a lot. I learnt a lot from him.
  • Amar Bose, who formed the Bose Corporation. He and I became very close. We spent a lot of time exchanging ideas.

30 Major Causes of Failure

by  Darpan Sachdeva

Why we fail

There is so much of content on leading an inspiring and successful life found out there  now a days,But while there is much information about what leads to success there isn’t much about the major causes of failure.so i thought of sharing here the 30 major causes for the failure from Napoleon Hill’s classic book,Think and Grow Rich, has helped thousands of people achieve financial freedom, happiness and peace of mind.

Life’s greatest tragedy consists of men and women who earnestly try, and fail! The tragedy lies in the overwhelmingly large majority of people who fail, as compared to the few who succeed.

1.UNFAVORABLE HEREDITARY BACKGROUND. There is but little, if anything, which can be done for people who are born with a deficiency in brain power. This philosophy offers but one method of bridging this weakness—through the aid of the Master Mind. Observe with profit, however, that this is the ONLY one of the thirty causes of failure which may not be easily corrected by any individual.

2. LACK OF A WELL-DEFINED PURPOSE IN LIFE. There is no hope of success for the person who does not have a central purpose, or definite goal at which to aim. Ninety-eight out of every hundred of those whom I have analyzed, had no such aim.

3.LACK OF AMBITION TO AIM ABOVE MEDIOCRITY. We offer no hope for the person who is so indifferent as not to want to get ahead in life, and who is not willing to pay the price.

4.INSUFFICIENT EDUCATION. This is a handicap which may be overcome with comparative ease. Experience has proven that the best-educated people are often those who are known as “self-made,” or self-educated. It takes more than a college degree to make one a person of education. Any person who is educated is one who has learned to get whatever he wants in life without violating the rights of others. Education consists, not so much of knowledge, but of knowledge effectively and persistently APPLIED. Men are paid, not merely for what they know, but more particularly for WHAT THEY DO WITH THAT WHICH THEY KNOW.

5.LACK OF SELF-DISCIPLINE. Discipline comes through self-control. This means that one must control all negative qualities. Before you can control conditions, you must first control yourself. Self-mastery is the hardest job you will ever tackle. If you do not conquer self, you will be conquered by self. You may see at one and the same time both your best friend and your greatest enemy, by stepping in front of a mirror.

6.ILL HEALTH. No person may enjoy outstanding success without good health. Many of the causes of ill health are subject to mastery and control. These, in the main are:

a. Overeating of foods not conducive to health

b. Wrong habits of thought; giving expression to negatives.

c. Wrong use of, and over indulgence in sex.

d. Lack of proper physical exercise

e. An inadequate supply of fresh air, due to improper breathing.

7.UNFAVORABLE ENVIRONMENTAL INFLUENCES DURING CHILDHOOD. “As the twig is bent, so shall the tree grow.” Most people who have criminal tendencies acquire them as the result of bad environment, and improper associates during childhood.

8.PROCRASTINATION. This is one of the most common causes of failure. “Old Man Procrastination” stands within the shadow of every human being, waiting his opportunity to spoil one’s chances of success. Most of us go through life as failures, because we are waiting for the “time to be right” to start doing something worthwhile. Do not wait. The time will never be “just right.” Start where you stand, and work with whatever tools you may have at your command, and better tools will be found as you go along.

9.LACK OF PERSISTENCE. Most of us are good “starters” but poor “finishers” of everything we begin. Moreover, people are prone to give up at the first signs of defeat. There is no substitute for PERSISTENCE. The person who makes PERSISTENCE his watch-word, discovers that “Old Man Failure” finally becomes tired, and makes his departure. Failure cannot cope with PERSISTENCE.

10.NEGATIVE PERSONALITY. There is no hope of success for the person who repels people through a negative personality. Success comes through the application of POWER, and power is attained through the cooperative efforts of other people. A negative personality will not induce cooperation.

11.LACK OF CONTROLLED SEXUAL URGE.Sex energy is the most powerful of all the stimuli which move people into ACTION. Because it is the most powerful of the emotions, it must be controlled, through transmutation, and converted into other channels.

12.UNCONTROLLED DESIRE FOR “SOMETHING FOR NOTHING.” The gambling instinct drives millions of people to failure. Evidence of this may be found in a study of the Wall Street crash of ‘29, during which millions of people tried to make money by gambling on stock margins.

13.LACK OF A WELL DEFINED POWER OF DECISION. Men who succeed reach decisions promptly, and change them, if at all, very slowly. Men who fail, reach decisions, if at all, very slowly, and change them frequently, and quickly. Indecision and procrastination are twin brothers. Where one is found, the other may usually be found also. Kill off this pair before they completely “hog-tie” you to the treadmill of FAILURE.

14.ONE OR MORE OF THE 6 BASIC FEARS. Poverty, Criticism, Ill health, Jealousy, Old age, Death.

15.WRONG SELECTION OF A MATE IN MARRIAGE. This a most common cause of failure. The relationship of marriage brings people intimately into contact. Unless this relationship is harmonious, failure is likely to follow. Moreover, it will be a form of failure that is marked by misery and unhappiness, destroying all signs of AMBITION.

16.OVER-CAUTION. The person who takes no chances, generally has to take whatever is left when others are through choosing. Over-caution is as bad as under-caution. Both are extremes to be guarded against. Life itself is filled with the element of chance.

17.WRONG SELECTION OF ASSOCIATES IN BUSINESS. This is one of the most common causes of failure in business. In marketing personal services, one should use great care to select an employer who will be an inspiration, and who is, himself, intelligent and successful. We emulate those with whom we associate most closely. Pick an employer who is worth emulating.

18.SUPERSTITION AND PREJUDICE. Superstition is a form of fear. It is also a sign of ignorance. Men who succeed keep open minds and are afraid of nothing.

19.WRONG SELECTION OF A VOCATION. No man can succeed in a line of endeavor which he does not like. The most essential step in the marketing of personal services is that of selecting an occupation into which you can throw yourself wholeheartedly.

20.LACK OF CONCENTRATION OF EFFORT. The “jack-of-all-trades” seldom is good at any. Concentrate all of your efforts on one DEFINITE CHIEF AIM.

21.THE HABIT OF INDISCRIMINATE SPENDING. The spend-thrift cannot succeed, mainly because he stands eternally in FEAR OF POVERTY. Form the habit of systematic saving by putting aside a definite percentage of your income. Money in the bank gives one a very safe foundation of COURAGE when bargaining for the sale of personal services. Without money, one must take what one is offered, and be glad to get it.

22.LACK OF ENTHUSIASM. Without enthusiasm one cannot be convincing. Moreover, enthusiasm is contagious, and the person who has it, under control, is generally welcome in any group of people.

23.INTOLERANCE. The person with a “closed” mind on any subject seldom gets ahead. Intolerance means that one has stopped acquiring knowledge. The most damaging forms of intolerance are those connected with religious, racial, and political differences of opinion.

24.INTEMPERANCE. The most damaging forms of intemperance are connected with eating, strong drink, and sexual activities. Overindulgence in any of these is fatal to success.

25.INABILITY TO COOPERATE WITH OTHERS. More people lose their positions and their big opportunities in life, because of this fault, than for all other reasons combined. It is a fault which no well-informed business man, or leader will tolerate.

26.POSSESSION OF POWER THAT WAS NOT ACQUIRED THROUGH SELF EFFORT. (Sons and daughters of wealthy men, and others who inherit money which they did not earn). Power in the hands of one who did not acquire it gradually, is often fatal to success. QUICK RICHES are more dangerous than poverty.

27.INTENTIONAL DISHONESTY. There is no substitute for honesty. One may be temporarily dishonest by force of circumstances over which one has no control, without permanent damage. But, there is NO HOPE for the person who is dishonest by choice. Sooner or later, his deeds will catch up with him, and he will pay by loss of reputation, and perhaps even loss of liberty.

28.EGOTISM AND VANITY. These qualities serve as red lights which warn others to keep away. THEY ARE FATAL TO SUCCESS.

29.GUESSING INSTEAD OF THINKING. Most people are too indifferent or lazy to acquire FACTS with which to THINK ACCURATELY. They prefer to act on “opinions” created by guesswork or snap-judgments.

30.LACK OF CAPITAL. This is a common cause of failure among those who start out in business for the first time, without sufficient reserve of capital to absorb the shock of their mistakes, and to carry them over until they have established a REPUTATION.

7 secrets to success as seen by successful people

by  Darpan Sachdeva

success

Why are some people more successful than others? There’s really no mystery: It’s because they do things differently than people who are less successful. Here are seven things that very successful people do every day. Embrace these habits and you can greatly accelerate your own success.

They are Absolutely and Relentlessly Passionate about What They Do

When you have true passion for something, nothing will stop you. You simply will not give up. In fact, if you do give up, it means there was not true passion. Passion is not a temporary thing – it is a consuming drive that impacts all that you do. Consider the case of Malala Yousafzai, the young Pakistani girl who, at age 15 was leading a movement in her town to get all girls to school. Despite the cultural aversion to female education, she did not stop. And when the Taliban targeted her and she lay almost dead in a London hospital, she fought her way back and continues her fight, with much more recognition and much more international support than she ever had in her hometown. She has become a “force” on the international scene.

They Work Hard, but They have Fun Doing it

All successful people admit that what they do is fun for them. No matter what you may think about Donald Trump’s politics, he has always said that he gets his biggest kicks out of making deals. He has written a book about it; he has had some failures and a few bankruptcies, and he is pretty blustery. But when he is at his finest and when he is having the most fun, he is making deals. Warren Buffett loves the “hunt” He loves researching companies, digging deep into their workings, and then making investment decisions based upon that. He has loved that since he was a teenager, and that will not change.

They Focus on a Singular Thing at First.

No matter how many fingers successful people may have in many pies now, they are all begin with a single focus in mind. Many of the have stuck with that focus; many others have “diversified.” But that ability to focus, which actually comes from their passion, is what brought them to the “dance” of success. Consider the case of Richard Branson and his company the Virgin Group. As a high school dropout, Branson was not willing to accept the fate of most dropouts. No, he had a focus – a single focus – and that was music. He began selling records out of a church basement and grew his business by opening up an online store that was able to under-sell other retailers. Once that business was successful, he opened brick and mortar record stores. Each time he achieved success, he moved onto the next venture. Ultimately, he sold his music “industry” and focused on the next single purpose – making air travel easier and more affordable for people – and Virgin Airlines was born.

They Have Persistence Through Failure

This trait also stems from passion and a love of what one does. In a recent book on successful people, author Richard St. John said, “Failure can either be your school or your funeral” as he summed up what successful people have had to say about their failures. J.K. Rowling loves to make up stories and to write. Almost penniless, with two boys to raise, she persisted. She persisted through over 200 rejections of her first Harry Potter novel, and look where that persistence has gotten her now.

They Push Out of Their Comfort Zones

Three young men living in New York and barely making a living designing websites for small businesses and community organizations, got a contract to develop a website for a community organization that sponsored a flea market/craft fair venue. In the course of getting information about the organization, they heard lots of grumblings from craters about E-Bay – its high fees and its total lack of support. They knew nothing about crafts, of business ventures, but they pushed themselves out of their “zones” and started Etsy. The rest is an amazing story. Today, Etsy is a publicly-traded corporation with an estimated wort of $2 billion.

They Look for a Problem to be Solved by a Big Idea

Nick Woodman was frustrated that he could not film himself surfing because he had no way to securely fasten a camera to his body. He developed a belt, which he began to sew himself using a sewing machine borrowed from his mother. The belt was hugely successful and he then went further developing an entire line of Go Pro cameras.

They Continue a Learning Quest

Successful people never stop being curious and never stop learning new things. If you were to ask Oprah Winfrey to enumerate the things she has done to be successful, one of the first things she will say is that she has never stopped learning. She has an insatiable thirst for knowledge and understanding, and, for years, that was reflected in her daily shows.

Many will say that there are other important traits to consider when looking at the lives and ventures of successful people. These 7, however, are a pretty good start.
