As many of us know, there are people in this world who don’t even make an effort to understand our struggles. We cannot force these individuals to try to understand us, nor should we always expect them to. The fact is that we need to learn to have faith in ourselves and to be proud of ourselves for any positive progress that we may make.

Even if we take small steps and not giant leaps, we are helping ourselves become better individuals. By taking these manageable, but helpful steps, we are showing ourselves that we have the ability to overcome our obstacles. There may be people who look at these steps and find them insignificant or hardly worthy of praise. We may feel defeated when we find out that these individuals don’t find our progress substantial, but the truth is that it shouldn’t and doesn’t matter what they think.

If we put all of our effort into even the smallest of steps, we will become even stronger than we already are. Small steps are like pennies, they add up if you continue to collect them and use them to your advantage. Would you throw out a penny on purpose? No. Chances are you would continue to save up so that you can put them to use. Taking small steps works in the same way. Each step counts for something and the more steps you take, the closer you’ll get to reaching your goals!

So the next time you take a step towards success and someone makes you feel like it’s not good enough, remember that as long as you put as much effort as you could into that step, then you are on the right track. The next time you go to work or go to class, put as much into your work as you can! You will see that each step, as long as you put all that you can into it, will pay off!
